Project 560: Call for Applications from Performing Artists

5-6-0 are the first three digits of the pincode for Bangalore city.

Project 560 is an artistic quest to recode this city through performances.

India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) invites applications from performing artists and groups who wish to create performances in found spaces within Bangalore city. This special initiative comes from our desire to engage with the city that nurtures us. It seeks to encourage artists to creatively engage with non-proscenium found spaces, reimagine them and bring them alive through performance.

A ‘found’ space could be any space that inspires you. You could explore spaces that might have lost their meanings or are waiting to be given meaning to; spaces that have been forgotten and are waiting to be rediscovered; spaces with stories and histories of people, communities, struggles, losses and victories; spaces that have transformed unrecognisably with the advent of rapid urbanisation in Bangalore; or those that have remained unchanged over many years. It could be a space that you feel compelled to pause at, are critical of, brood over, banter with or even tussle over.

From the applications, six projects will be selected for support, each to a maximum value of Rs 2.5 lakhs, including production costs. The selected groups/individuals will have three months, from March to May 2014, to develop their performance ideas. These ideas will be shared through performances and presentations during the week-long ‘Project 560’ festival to be organised by IFA in June 2014 in Bangalore.

Eligibility and Application:
We welcome applications from musicians, dancers, theatre practitioners, puppeteers, storytellers, poets, writers, or visual artists who wish to create a performance. You must be a current resident of Bangalore, and if not an Indian citizen, must have lived in the country for at least five years.
