For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Neighbourhood Engagements that will enable a memory mapping engagement in Yelahanka New Town. Based on a mapping of personal memories of recent and long-time residents as well as a remembering of lost establishments of the neighbourhood, this project will explore the intersection of people’s histories in Yelahanka and Yelahanka’s relationship with the growing city of Bangalore. The outcomes of this project will be an artist book and a public installation in Yelahanka. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be photo and video documentation of process and the public installation, copies of the small maps created by residents and copies of the artist book. Project funds will pay for contract fees, materials, printing and travel.
For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice) which will create a theatre performance based on a queer person’s experiences of crisis intervention for gender and sexual minority communities, across police stations in Bangalore. Drawing upon instances of discrimination, violence, stigma, humiliation, conspiracies, homophobia and humour that have been part of these experiences, this project will bring them alive through theatre and installations. The outcomes from this project will be the play script and the theatre performance. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice) which will create a theatre performance that will attempt to capture vignettes of Bangalore through the lived experiences of a single woman in the city, and their interactions with the working class and queer communities. By engaging sensorially with 20 locations across Bangalore, the performance titled Nantu (bond, in Kannada) will explore the artist’s personal experiences as well as the collective sense of belonging, memory, loss, helplessness, and survival for marginalised communities in a vast city like Bangalore. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Curated Artistic Engagements, will create a series of poetry events – primarily in Kannada, and a few other languages - as public and private interactive sessions, in different parts of Bangalore to explore the psychogeography of the city through multilingual poetic exercises. The outcomes of the project are public and private interactive poetry sessions, an exhibition of poetry installations, poetry videos and poetry performances, a book of poems, and a digital book of photographs of the project. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice) that will research into the lives of artist-led institutions that existed in Bangalore between 1990 and 2022. Through an in-depth study of about 10 to 12 such initiatives, the project will inquire into the early history, programming, economic model, community engagement, politics and artistic visions of each space. This is an attempt to discursively engage with an alternative art history that defied the norms of dominant art markets and remained on the fringes. The outcomes from this project will be 10 to 12 commissioned essays and art works, a process essay and a website that will be a repository of all textual and audio-visual materials. For the implementation of a Foundation Project implemented by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice), which will investigate the narratives of visual culture and spatial politics in Bangalore through a study of the evolution of public statues and sculptures since the early 1990s. The outcomes of the project will include an archival photo collection of public statuary, six to eight in-depth case studies of public statues, and a public exhibition highlighting the project findings. For the implementation of a Foundation Project implemented by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice), which will create a theatrical production on Bangalore’s imminent water crisis. The play will focus on the paradoxes of Bangalore’s development such as the inequalities created by water scarcity, the changing imagery and management of water as it moves through the city, and a future-focussed approach towards sustainability. The outcomes of the project will be a playscript and the production. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice) that will explore and engage with Bangalore as a centre for mental health and well-being. By documenting conversations, stories and personal histories of caregivers, mental health experts and users of the city’s mental health system, the project attempts to investigate a little-known aspect of the city’s history and offer a new methodology for engaging with a subject as complex as mental health. The outcomes of this project will comprise two sets of audio series, a group discussion, a public panel discussion and site-specific dispersion of artistically curated audio series via QR codes. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be audio recordings of all the interviews, still and video recordings of the panel discussion and still documentation of the site-specific QR codes. Project funds will pay for professional fees, honorarium, resource persons’ fees, travel, equipment hire, venue hire, food and printing and materials.
For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Arts Projects (Research/Practice), that explores and engages with Dakhni expressions in Bangalore’s popular culture through rap and hiphop music. Titled Apnich Bol, Dakhnich Bol, the project seeks to celebrate and foreground Bangalore’s deep-rooted Dakhni culture which has been overshadowed by the city’s mainstream discourse. The outcomes of the project will include a nine-track music album, three music videos, six to ten curated performances and a bonus track, with the possibility of a behind-the-scenes film. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be the complete album along with the bonus track, the music videos and photographs from the local performances. Project funds will pay for professional fees, equipment hire, honorarium, travel and food, studio hire, performances and material costs.

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA under Neighbourhood Engagements, which will create a series of drawings that investigates the role of the marketplace in the city through interactions in the meat market in Murphy Town, Ulsoor. The project will examine the nature and possibilities of interactions among sellers, butchers and customers, and reflect on broader issues such as society’s relationship with meat and the future of the marketplace. The outcome of this project will be a series of drawings created in conversation with the community that evoke the meat market, and a public sharing in the marketplace. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be process documentation of the research and interactions, images of drawings and documentation of the physical installation. Project funds will pay for honorarium, material costs and travel.
