Dhiraj Neog

Dhiraj Neog is a young anthropologist from Guwahati, Assam. He studied at the Cotton College, Guwahati University. He was research fellow on a project entitled ‘The stone age culture of Khasi-Jaintia hills of Meghalaya: An Archaeological study’, and appointed as guest faculty in the Department of Anthropology, Cotton University. He has currently been accepted as a doctoral candidate at the same university.

For this fellowship, Dhiraj will first make an inventory of all the objects in the collection. He will then use his training in material culture to describe, categorise and interpret the objects in the collection. Once this task has been completed, Dhiraj will curate a permanent exhibition at the Barpeta Museum that will be both informative and engaging. One of the areas in which Dhiraj has little experience however, is in exhibition design, and he will collaborate with exhibition designers to look after this aspect of the initiative.

The outcomes of the fellowship would include the inventory of the objects in the collection, a catalogue with brief descriptions, and a permanent exhibition that will be designed and curated to showcase the objects in an engaging and informative manner. The Fellow’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be process images, images of the exhibition, texts and publication, if any.
