Thursday, July 29, 2021 | 06:00 PM – 07:00 PM | Zoom and Facebook Live
Join us for a presentation on Bangalore Connect, a series of art events hosted by the Visual Art Collective (VAC) with the participation of over 150 cultural practitioners to celebrate the ongoing legacy of the city of Bangalore.
Supported by IFA and Goethe-Institut, Bangalore Connect included an exhibition of the cityscapes through curatorial mentoring, a comic zine-making workshop, contemporary retake on Bangalore picture postcards, an exhibition of textiles, a photography project on city-dwellers and films on food in Bangalore, and map-reading walks through gardens in the city. Through these events, the artists were able to push their practice to deeply engage with Bangalore.
Suresh Jayaram will lead the talks by Archana Hande, Amitabh Kumar, Renuka Rajiv, Bharathesh GD, Ashok Vish, and Sandeep TK who have been involved in Bangalore Connect, about their artistic journeys as a part of Project 560. Suresh Jayaram will also give an account of the curatorial vision of all the art events hosted as part of this project.
Suresh Jayaram is a Bangalore-based artist, art historian, arts administrator, and curator.
Archana Hande is a Bangalore-born, Bombay-based artist, curator, and organiser.
Amitabh Kumar is a Bangalore-based artist, who has worked as a part of the Sarai Media Lab and now teaches at Srishti.
Anitha N is a community and socially engaged art practitioner and researcher who works with traditional and contemporary art and craft forms.
Bharathesh GD is a Bangalore-based visual artist, curator, researcher, and educator.
Ashok Vish is a Bangalore-based lens-based artist with a practice that draws from his training in filmmaking.
Sandeep TK is an artist from Kerala, who now lives and works in Bangalore.
Visual Art Collective (VAC) received a grant from IFA in 2019, under the Project 560 programme for a Year-long Curated Series of Artistic Engagements in Bangalore.
Project 560 takes its name from the first three digits of Bangalore's pin code. This programme proposes to encourage artists, scholars, institutions, and neighbourhoods to engage creatively and critically with the city. In doing so, it aims to provide citizens with a kaleidoscopic experience of exploring and reimagining the city.
This session is organised as part of the Project Showcase @ IFA, a series of online presentations to showcase, discuss, and engage audiences with the diverse projects we support across programmes.

The discussion will also be streamed live on our Facebook page - no prior registration is required to join the live streaming.
