We invite you to join IFA, as we explore the artistic expressions and models of arts education in South India, a region renowned for its rich cultural and linguistic heritage, expansive natural and archaeological landscapes, and home to a generous body of traditional knowledge and artistic styles. This conference, an initiative under the Arts Education (Kali Kalisu) programme at IFA, engages with all the southern Indian states: Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Union Territories of Goa and Puducherry. It hopes to bring together various stakeholders—teachers, artists, educators, school administrators, researchers in arts and culture, government representatives, parents, and students, public and private cultural institutions such as galleries, museums, and libraries—to foster dialogue around discourse and exchanges in arts education. This platform hopes to address the significant gaps between current art education policies, curriculum frameworks, and teaching strategies, to explore questions around three key themes:

  • sustainability of arts education
  • policies impacting arts education
  • the role of integrated arts education in our social and cultural landscape

Join us to interact with artiststeachersart educatorscurators, and creative practitioners working and based in the Southern Indian states. Experience, explore and engage in conversations, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions and more around Arts Education!
