Join us this Teacher's Day for diverse presentations by grantees Nagaraja M Hudeda, Mohan Kumar N, and Arpita RG on writing and language; dance and music; and community food practices and drawing!
They will share their experiences and stories of their projects which connect classroom learning, local art forms, and the lived experiences of students and the surrounding environment. Their projects received support from the Arts Education programme titled Kali Kalisu ('Learn and Teach' in Kannada), which focusses on integrating the arts with curriculum learning in government schools in Karnataka.
Nagaraja M Hudeda received a grant for a series of engagements in the literary arts to address learning challenges associated with language, with the students of Government Primary School, Bylandora Gauliwada, Uttara Kannada District, from the Gauli community, who are migrants from Maharashtra.
Mohan Kumar N received a grant for a wide-ranging engagement and workshops with fifth, sixth and seventh grade students of the Government Higher Primary School, Hulasogi, Haveri District to introduce them to Kolata - a popular stick dance form of Karnataka.
Arpita RG received a grant for a series of comic strips and a calendar of community food recipes, using culinary practices that find their way into songs and stories. The project involved seventh grade children of the Government Primary School in Ramalingapura, Tumakur District.
These grants are supported by Citi India. Arpita RG received part support from Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore.
Join us for refreshments after the presentations and interact with the grantees!
