The Tapestry of Time: The Changing Landscape of our Neighbourhoods | Project Showcase@IFA with Chandra Keerthi B and Lakshmi Nagaraj | November 27, 2024

Join us for our next Project Showcase@IFA with Chandra Keerthi B and Lakshmi Nagaraj who will share their experiences of working on projects as part of the Neighbourhood Engagements category of our Bangalore-specific Project 560 programme.

Lakshmi explored the evolving relationship of Yelahanka New Town with the rapidly expanding city of Bangalore. She did this through a memory mapping exercise, drawing from the personal recollections of both long-time and recent residents, and recalling the lost establishments that once defined the neighbourhood. Chandra Keerthi took an intimate approach, focusing on the legacy of the Majestic area and his great-grandfather, Hanumanthappa, also known as Rayan, the founder of Majestic Printing Press. By weaving together personal narratives with broader socio-cultural histories, the project reflected on the transformation of Bangalore and its neighbourhoods over time.

Both the speakers will share the outcomes of their projects, offering reflections on the central themes of memory, nostalgia, remembrance, and the ongoing transformation of our neighbourhoods and cities. They will also be in conversation with Mridupankhi Rajkumari, Programme Officer at IFA.
