Past Forward: The Pleasure, Purpose and Practice of Arts Research

We hope you enjoyed yourself on Day 1 of the festival! 

Today's lineup begins with songs by Mohan Kumar N about his community, the Kadu Golla, and their oral narratives. The panels today will discuss the aesthetics of culturally marginalised theatre and performative practices, performances and the films variously explore issues of migration and labour, and two communities' contributions to music and shoemaking. Listen to Manish Gaekwad speaking about his mother in the book he wrote, or attend a Deep Dive session by historian and feminist Urvashi Butalia. We will end the day with stories in the form of Dastaan, the surs of which have existed for ages.
